Meet Vicki Stark, Senior Sales & Marketing Consultant, who has been an integral part of the Supplemental Staffing family for 17 years.
Vicki's journey in staffing is nothing short of remarkable. Her career began years ago as an administrator for a direct placement company in Washington, D.C., while her husband was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. After returning to Toledo, she transitioned into a staffing manager role before life took her in different directions. But here's where the story gets interesting: she eventually took a direct hire position through a staffing agency, not knowing that 15 years later, she'd be working for the very company that had acquired that original staffing service that placed her in her previous role. "Talk about full circle!" Vicki laughs. "I had always loved and missed the dynamics of staffing, so I was happy to find a position in staffing and was excited to return. Seventeen years later, and here I am!"
Turning Challenges into Strengths
One of Vicki's greatest professional transformations has been her approach to rejection, an inevitable part of the sales world.
"In the past, I would take rejection personally," she admits. "Now I welcome the challenge and hit it head on."
This shift in mindset led to one of her most rewarding client success stories. After years of persistent but respectful outreach to a prospect who repeatedly said no, Vicki finally acquired a 15-minute meeting with them. Being mindful of his time, she wrapped up at 10 minutes, asking if he had any questions. That respect for his schedule turned into a 45-minute conversation and facility tour, ultimately building a lasting partnership. "I gained his trust and respect because he knew I listened and was respecting his time." Time and time again, communication and respect win over.
The Supplemental Staffing Difference
What sets Vicki apart as a sales consultant is her genuine confidence in Supplemental Staffing's services. When working with potential clients, she looks for companies that value employees as partners and prioritize communication and safety training. "Communication is key since we're not physically on-site managing the employee," she explains. For clients hesitant about using a staffing agency, her message is simple:
"We're here to give you your time back so you can focus on other aspects of your job. Let us handle the recruiting, interviewing, pre-screening, and pre-employment screening."
Vicki is passionate about dispelling the biggest misconception in staffing – that all agencies are the same. So, what makes Supplemental Staffing unique? "I proudly tell clients we're family-owned, local, and women-owned. We provide personal, hands-on customer service versus calling a call center states away." She points to tangible differences like on-site client visits, delivering "goodie bags" for successful placements, and deep community involvement. "I can't tell you how many times I hear companies say, 'I haven't seen a rep in months.' That's not us."
Life Beyond the Office
When she's not championing Supplemental Staffing's services, Vicki's heart belongs to her family, especially her one-year-old twin grandsons, Rhett and Archer. "Every chance I get, I'm spending it with family," she shares. After years of traveling between kids' soccer, football, lacrosse, and hockey games, she's embraced and is very content being home on the property they recently built on.
"As much as I love to travel, I love being home, whether outdoors landscaping, relaxing with my hubby and two dogs, or having a night in watching our twin grandbabies!"
Her desk tells the story of someone who balances fierce professional drive with deep family devotion; weekly sales numbers and graphs sit alongside cherished family photos. Her productivity mantra? "Touch it once!" and "Communication, communication, communication!" It's a philosophy that has served her well through nearly two decades of building lasting relationships in the staffing industry.
