Blake Sell may only be in his first year as the Sales & Marketing Consultant at Supplemental Staffing's Bowling Green location, but he's already made an impact by championing what sets the company apart: thoughtful placements over high volume, and genuine relationships over aggressive sales tactics.

Building Better Client Relationships

Blake's approach to staffing reflects a refreshing philosophy that puts quality and communication at the forefront. When asked what qualities he looks for in clients, his answer reveals much about his work style:
"Clients who communicate clearly and know what they need are always the best clients to work with, as it is much easier to learn their needs and form a relationship with them."
He goes on to emphasize the importance of workplace culture:
"I also value clients who are committed to creating a positive workplace culture, as those are the companies where our employees tend to have the best chance at thriving long-term."
This dual focus on clear communication and cultural fit helps ensure successful, lasting placements.

Staffing as Enhancement, Not Replacement

Blake understands that many potential clients approach staffing agencies with hesitation. His response to skeptics is straightforward and practical:
"I'd tell them that staffing doesn't have to replace their process; it's meant to enhance it. We take on the time-consuming work of recruiting, screening, & interviewing, so their internal team can focus on operations."
The value proposition is clear: flexibility, reduced downtime, and access to a wider candidate pool, all without disrupting existing workflows.

Breaking Down Industry Misconceptions

Like many who enter the staffing industry, Blake himself once held a common misconception. "A common misconception is that applicants pay us to find them a job. I used to believe that myself before entering the industry," he admits. "In reality, our clients pay us to find them employees, not the other way around. The goal is to support businesses with reliable workers while also helping individuals find opportunities."
This firsthand understanding of misconceptions helps Blake educate both clients and candidates more effectively.

Staying Ahead of Industry Trends

Rather than relying solely on reports and data, Blake takes a hands-on approach to understanding the industries he serves. "Most of my learning comes directly from conversations with clients and prospects," he explains. "Asking the right questions about their upcoming demand, challenges they've been having, or their hiring often reveals a lot about where the market is heading, whether it's changes in material costs, labor availability, fluctuations in production, etc."
This client-centered approach to market intelligence allows him to stay ahead of trends while simultaneously deepening relationships.

What Makes Supplemental Staffing Different

When it comes to distinguishing Supplemental Staffing from the competition, Blake doesn't hold back.
"Supplemental is unique because we prioritize fit over the quantity of workers we send out. Instead of sending as many people as possible as many of the national staffing companies do, we take the time to make thoughtful placements and try to build a strong relationship with our clients, focusing on the consulting aspect of staffing rather than the sales side."
He continues with a pointed observation about industry practices:
"Most other staffing companies view the industry as a numbers game; they try to send as many emails and make as many calls as possible. We often hear complaints from our clients, annoyed with the volume of calls and emails some other agencies bombard them with."
Supplemental Staffing's approach?
"Instead of just trying to harass our contacts to get orders, we make sure our communication is consistent and personal, something that helps us build a real relationship with the companies we work with and sets us apart from most of the national agencies."

Beyond the Office

Outside of work, Blake is an avid sports enthusiast who enjoys playing, watching, and talking basketball, football, and soccer with friends, with college football holding a special place among his favorites. He's also a gamer who enjoys unwinding with movies and reading.
Here's something most people don't know about Blake:
"Although it has been a while now, I was an official USSF-certified soccer referee for the state of Ohio. Although I only ever refereed travel/club games, you can hypothetically work your way through the system all the way up to the MLS!"
It's a reminder that dedication and advancement through the ranks, whether in sports officiating or staffing, requires commitment and expertise.

A Personal Touch in a Numbers-Driven Industry

Blake Sell's approach to staffing reflects the core values that make Supplemental Staffing stand out in a crowded marketplace. By prioritizing relationships over transactions, quality over quantity, and consultation over hard sales, he embodies the company's mission to provide true employment solutions.
As Blake concludes, "Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit more about me and what we do at Supplemental Staffing. If you're ever looking for a reliable staffing partner, I'd love to connect and show how our team can make a difference for your business."
